You probably do not remember it, but at one time, helicopter commuting was a thing in New York City.
Sadly though the horrific deaths of five people who were hit by an errant rotor blade following a crash landing of a New York Airways helicopter on top of what was then, in 1977, the Pan Am Building ended helicopter commuting in NYC.
Now, some forward thinking folks are trying to restart the airborne commuter service using the helipad on the same skyscraper, now called the MetLife building. With new technology and safety standards, does it make both sense and cents to offer such a service in such a crowded city?
