In one of the episodes of Jay Leno’s Garage, the comedian, philanthropist and now retired late night television host hooked up with Ultimate Fighting Championship announcer and fellow funny man Joe Rogan to hit the road in the sun-soaked hillside of Los Angeles aboard a one-of-a-kind classic: a restomod version of the iconic 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.
Restomod classics look great driving down the road, but they can be quite a mess underneath. This is the problem that Joe discovered after purchasing his Corvette that has already been extensively modified. Thanks to the killer customization of Pure Vision’s Steve Strope, Joe’s ‘Vette has been rejuvenated and received a thorough upgrade then found its way into Jay Leno’s Garage. Strope also appears in the episode to discuss the details of what was done.
The updated Chevrolet Corvette Stingray includes a new interior while the power of the stock LS1 V8 was boosted with the installation of a Magnusson supercharger, which needed some custom brackets and fabrication so things can line up and fit under the factory style cowl induction hood.
When Joe and Jay took the ‘Vette for a spin, they reminisce about their love for cars as kids, the present state of General Motors, and Joe’s work as a commentator and in-ring interviewer for UFC. Jay also shared a funny story about a baffling discussion with the great Marlon Brando. With the gorgeous Corvette and the great chit-chat, there’s a lot to like so check out the video and hit the play button below.
