When it comes to the track toys, perhaps the last vehicle someone thinks about is the Land Rover Defender. Designed as the farm truck, its live axles and squared-off body certainly don’t make for the best lap times. And that didn’t stop this owner.
What we have here is the Land Rover Defender 90 fully customized top-to-bottom by Dutch firm Tophat.
It features the 565-hp 6.2-liter LS3 V8 connected to the T56 six-speed manual transmission, along with the air suspension, Koni shocks, and the specially developed AP racing brake system.
All of that combines together to make the pretty decent track machine, somehow. The video below of the Tophat Defender below shows the truck driving throughout the streets before hitting a track alongside Porsches and BMWs. Judging by the speeds, well, it doesn’t seem to be doing too bad, either.
If you have ever dreamed for the world where people use their Defenders as track cars, watch for yourself. 565HP in a Defender.. This must be a lot of fun to drive!
