The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is one of a most extreme vehicles ever created and MotorWeek recently got its hands on a highly anticipated muscle car.
Despite having the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that develops 840 horsepower (626 kW) and 770 lb-ft (1,042 Nm) of torque, John Davis says the Demon is not that insane on a drag strip as the car’s drag mode makes launching super simple.
He goes on to say a model launches extremely hard but, if you do it right, and everything hooks up and the vehicle takes off without any drama.
While the Demon was created to rule a quarter mile, it’s still the very streetable car. In fact, Davis notes the model actually rides better than a Challenger SRT Hellcat thanks to its flexible sidewall tires.
In terms of performance, this Challenger SRT Demon can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds and run a quarter mile in 9.65 seconds.
MotorWeek wasn’t able to hit those numbers and they believe this was due to the combination of high temperatures and humidity during testing.
Davis effectively sums up this review by saying Don’t think of this as some one-off car just to do the couple of runs and get some crazy numbers for publicity.
That is extremely good news for the 3,000 U.S. customers who can’t wait to take delivery of the vehicle.
